Suburban villa: Winnington Road

As featured on a recent BBC programme, take a step into one of London’s most luxurious basement conversions. Designed in its entirety by London-based architects, Wolff Architects, this luxury basement covers an astonishing 7,500 sq. ft. at Plot 3, Winnington Road, N2. The stunning re-development was delivered for a private end-user client and all construction works were carried out by Laxcon Construction.

A magnificent spiral staircase leads down to this subterranean paradise, where a whole host of extravagant facilities can be found. The facilities range from an indoor swimming pool, to a gymnasium and home cinema, and even its own hair salon. The modern, lavish fittings in each room of the basement conversion further add to the sense of luxury and opulence created in Wolff Architects’ design.

All the finishes are designed to the highest specification with all joinery items being bespoke elements, comprising unique veneers and high lacquer finishes. The flooring is made from marble and has been book matched throughout the luxurious basement. Even the walls to the cinema room are fully fabric panelled with woven leather.

David Wolff, Director of Wolff Architects, said “everything about the architecture and interiors was to the highest possible design and specification, as is essential for the super-prime market. From the spa area containing a large swimming pool, Jacuzzi, hair salon, massage room, steam room and gym through to the large Ferrari red garage, sized to accommodate 4 Rolls Royce Phantoms.

The basement design was led by providing generous floor to ceiling heights of over 3.5m high, giving a great sense of scale and space making the accommodation feel light and airy, despite most of it being subterranean.”
