New project

évY is a product designer educated in France (CNAM, Paris; Ensaama, Paris: Master’s in Product Design) and England (BIAD: Management of Innovation). Over the last nine years, évY has developed a highly original approach to design by making conceptually rich products that challenge our basic assumptions in all kinds of contemporary contexts.

évY’s perspective is underpinned by principles of holism, high innovation and éco/bio design. Her human centric alternative objects are designed  using a creative synthesis of scientific and sustainability principles, which enables her to seek answers to how we can use our resources in a more sensible and appropriate way. Some of her ongoing preoccupations include personal wellbeing; new materials, processes and technologies; the ephemeral vs enduring life of an object; and the ‘magnification of the depreciated’.

Her design approach is focused around urban rituals and theordinary. How can apparently mundane activities be rethought and re-codified through the introduction of emotionally engaging design elements – which while surprising and playful also constitute highly practical solutions. Such an approach invites us to relearn our relationship with cultural spaces, reconsider our responsibilities to the environment and ultimately critique our apparent need for the everyday objects we take for granted.

évY has been commissioned independently and as a collaborator on international design projects centring on sustainable innovation, identity and product use. Recent collaborations include working with Pimliko on an eco-project; XXM Architectures on an organic pilot project for a Naturalia store, where she was in charge of the lab creative component of the research web platform called the ‘EcoDesign Observatoire’; a design collaboration & workshop with Lago-Milan; and a project with Bento to rethink the global identity of the Cercle des Armées restaurant.
