Inside one of Manchester’s last converted mill buildings, a strikingly modern apartment has been delicately inserted into the Grade II listed building. Albert Mill, a former cotton mill built in 1869, was converted from derelict warehouses into shell spaces for purchase by private individuals who sought to design their own home.

The building embodies the structure and industrial materials common of its time. The cast iron columns, timber floor structure and red brick walls are all expressed within the apartment’s interior. The design concept was to conserve the old and integrate the new, whilst in the process creating a series of unique spaces to facilitate contemporary apartment living.
