A place to feed your stomach as well as your soul – this medium sized food court in MYTown mall was designed to satisfy both appetites with a calming botanical concept accented with industrial features. As per the client’s request, the 17 food outlets are arranged to immediately catch the eye of visitors as they enter the food court. Once visitors have made their selections, encouraged no doubt by the delicious food photography highlighted in strategically placed lightboxes, they may proceed to several pockets of themed seating areas to enjoy their meal and also relax in between their shopping trips. In line with the botanical concept, greenery in all its lushness is a recurring motif within the food court -artificial turf adorns the wall leading to the entrance, trailing plants hang from the ceiling, whimsical animal cut outs are artistically placed and ceiling trusses are painted green. Adding some edginess and to reinforce the industrial theme, pillars are encircled with bare brick and recycled wood cladding while grand metal chandeliers dot the food court. Wooden tables and chairs were deliberately chosen to abet the illusion of picnicking al-fresco, although one’s imagination need not stretch too far when enjoying a meal in the long bank of tables bathed in natural light.
