A Cosy Unpretentious Home Of Light Living

The decorators at Homelatte have done it again: they have taken a small urban space and made it homey and tasteful, devoid of ostentation.

The apartment featured in this 360 tour is a one bedroom located in a large, Asian metropolis, presenting design challenges typical for city livers: optimising space, making cleaning easy, bringing in as much light as possible and including as many functional items without creating clutter.

We think Homelatte has succeeded in all of these things with this apartment, but see for yourself.

Light living

This main living area, set right off the kitchen and front entrance, embraces its smallness with grace. Thick curtains of two tones offer a serious touch of luxury, and the white sheen curtain is always a solid choice to reflect the buoyancy of natural daylight.

A modern flat screen television, paired with a neat, slight and simple wood entertainment centre, is a must for all TV-watchers living in small apartments.

The clean wood floors have been draped with a simple, beige tatami-style rug and a small pine table provides a function without overtaking the space. In general, the use of light materials like pine wood and pastels, as seen with the sofa, frees the space up, making it warm and welcoming.

Balcony views

This small balcony, set off the bedroom, has been refinished with new wooden floors and double-paned sliding door and windows which have been set in top-grade wood frames.

In the corridor between the inside bedroom and balcony, a previously non-functioning storage closet has been cleaned out and re-enlivened, so old clutter can be swept out from the inside apartment.

Stylish storage

A pastel green accent wall brings a harmonious and spacious feeling to this quaint sleeping area.

A middle-to-light finish has been used on the bookcase in order to provide a stylish contrast to the light colours found everywhere else. And, instead of taking up more space with nightstands to hold reading lamps, the decorators have used a clamp-lamp on the bookcase—clever!

Simple decor

Often, folks living in small spaces struggle to decorate because it is easy to think that all of the coolest decor is just not made for small apartment living. And, to a certain extent, this is true—large art installations in a little flat can often end up eating space.

But here, decorators have added small, simple decorative touches in isolated spots on the walls, giving the impression that the apartment has more separate spaces than it actually does.

A shining kitchen

A kitchen of sheen steel and silver appliances, just off the main living space, really does wonders for giving the main rooms an atmosphere of cleanliness and modernity. The updated appliances like a gas stove, dishwasher and plenty of modish metallic cabinetry and clever storage, together have the look of something found in a home showroom, and complete the apartment's practicable needs.

This is really in line with the overall feat that has been accomplished by the Homelatte decorators in this project: creating a more homey, spacious apartment that simultaneously meets every modern urbanite's needs.
