The month of December is synonymous with cocktail parties, holidays, gifts, turkey dinners, and not to forget home decorations! It's the most awaited holiday simply because of the festivities and cheer surrounding it. There is a gamut of modern decor ideas that you can incorporate in your home to create a warm, welcoming environment. While no Christmas decoration is complete without a Christmas tree, there are several areas of the house that are often neglected when it comes to Christmas decor. The key is to leave no stone unturned to create a holistic environment throughout the house. This post presents tips that you can use to decorate your home this festive season.

1. Decor for the entrance

A Christmas tree at the entrance of a home is the best way to welcome guests. If you're looking to create a slight twist on the regular Christmas tree, arranging LED lights in the shape of a tree is an excellent idea. Not only does it save you the trouble of setting up a regular tree, but it also makes the entrance of your home more attractive.

2. Decor for the dining table

The dining room too demands decorations! With the multitude of Christmas decor available you'll be spoiled for choice. For starters, you can opt for a white table runner on which you can place greenery from the garden and accentuate it with red berries as well as candles. Hyacinths, greenery and faux plants can be added. A wreath for the wall completes the look.

3. Decor for the living room

The Christmas tree can be placed in the corner of the living room to avoid obstruction. Once set up, decorating the tree should begin with a layer of lights. Soon after, you can proceed to add the Christmas ornaments, and of course the star at the top. The best way to finish off the tree is with a layer of ribbons- preferably those in cream and golden hues.

4. Decor for the patio

Rice lights are a fantastic way to create a magical setting for the patio of your home. Wrap them around pretty much everything in sight, right from the seating area to the plants and trees! Use them in the backyard as well as the front yard for a holistic theme. Incidentally, if you're running short of Christmas ornaments and décor, all you need are lights!

5. Decor for the bedroom

The bedroom is one of the last places one would think of decorating, but this doesn't have to be the case. With simple elements such as a red bedspread or cover, lights and simple decor, you are good to go! Use the lights to decorate the headboard and place stars and trinkets all over the room – right from the shelves to the study for that Christmas feel!

6. Decor for the kitchen

The kitchen counter is a great place to decorate. Candles are integral to any Christmas decoration. Pick out various candles in different colours and shapes and spread them across the kitchen countertop. You can opt for scented candles which are not only vibrant in terms of colour but also for their scent. Choose a warm winter aroma such as cinnamon or apple to enhance the Christmas mood.

7. Decor for the wall

Wall art should not be missed out when it comes to Christmas decor. With the festivities, you can be as smart and creative as you like. If you do not have any art handy, you can make it yourself or purchase some from the store. For instance, having reindeer wall art not only draws attention to a blank wall in the passage but also contributes to a holistic Christmas theme in your home. For more inspiration, browse through these lovely lighting ideas.
