If landscaping isn't your speciality there is a good chance that there will be a spot in your garden that just falls a little short of the mark. Perhaps it doesn't get much sun or maybe you just ran out of ideas, but whatever the reason for your less than perfect area, we bet it can be found in a tricky to transform corner.

We want to give you some hope today so have compiled what we think are some great ideas for putting garden corners to good, practical or pretty use. Take a look at our suggestions and see which ones might work for you and before you know it, your garden will be perfect!

Add some covered seating

As much as we might not want to admit it the weather here in the UK is tempestuous at best. One second it feels mild, the next we have snow in late March, so when it comes to putting garden corners to great use we think you have to take the weather into account. That's why we think some covered seating would be a fantastic addition.

This happy little corner, from Ecospace, offers the best of every world. Al fresco seating in summer but with cover for when inclement weather unexpectedly arrives. Genius!

Erect a shed

If you're anything like us, you will have a plethora of disused garden tools and implements that you just can't seem to throw away so instead of letting them take up room in your house or fester in the garden itself, why not put one of your garden corners to great use by installing a shed there?

A fantastic way to hide all garden clutter while also adding a pretty aesthetic to the space, a well constructed and beautifully styled shed will add beauty and practicality rather than simply sacrificing green space. We love this pretty painted version as it looks super cute and country chic!

Install some fabulous art

Far from being something that is kept exclusively for inside the house, art installations can be a great way to get more value from unused or overlooked garden corners. A fabulous way to express yourself and your tastes, we think that large exterior sculptures will always be an investment but how individual do you want to be?

If nothing readily available, such as this divine hare garden statue, takes your fancy perhaps you could transform yourself from collector to patron by commissioning something totally bespoke and unique. What a way to turn a corner onto a centrepiece!

Use colourful plants

If you are looking for a simple, inexpensive and impactful way to transform your garden corners then let's not overcomplicate the process. It really can be as easy as selecting some suitably bright and eye-catching blooms and planting them in a fantastic format.

Spiky, tropical and intensely coloured plants will all make light work of making a formerly boring corner a real haven for wildlife and envious green-fingered friends but if you want to keep the space low maintenance, be sure you are planting things that can thrive or you'll end up playing nurse to your plants!

Plant a tree

While it is possible to plant a young tree that is already a decent size, we know that this is not an instantly transformative tip. If, however, you plan to be in your home forever, we don't think there can be many things nicer than planting a tree and watching it grow and flourish over the years.

Garden corners can be so difficult to put to good use but we don't think many things work as well as a beautiful tree and, who knows, in years to come, when it has grown, you might be able to build a beautiful treehouse for your grandchildren!

Add a composting bin

For keen gardeners having a constant supply of great quality, organic compost is a valuable resource so if you have garden corners simply going to waste, why not think about installing a special composting bin? You can easily hide it away in a subtle outbuilding, such as these ones, too.

If you prefer a more natural approach, a simple compost heap would also be a great thing to compile in your wasted corners but make sure that everyone in the household agrees. Compost is not everybody's favourite thing, after all.

Welcome insect friends

Insect hotels and beehives are a fantastic way to not only put your garden corners to good use, but also show a little kindness to nature. Though insects might not be everyone's favourite creatures, they are a vital part of our ecosystem and need all the help they can get to stay happy, healthy and well populated.

Why not simply pop a hotel or hive in a corner and let nature do its own thing? You'll be shocked at how little maintenance you have to take on but can still reap the rewards of adopting more sustainable practices.
